Latina Mic Drop – Episode 16
Trust—it’s one of the most fundamental aspects of our relationships, our careers, and even our personal development. But let’s be real, trust isn’t always easy. It’s something we can stack on over time, sometimes lose, and often have to rebuild. In this episode of Latina Mic Drop, I share my own experiences with trust—how it’s shaped my relationships, my mindset, and my ability to grow into the secure person I am today.
Why Trust Matters
Trust isn’t just about believing in others; it’s about believing in yourself. Trust influences:
✅ How we connect with people.
✅ How we navigate change.
✅ How we make decisions.
✅ How we build emotional well-being.
For me, trust has been both a barrier and a breakthrough. From my long-term relationship with my wife to my career, I’ve had to learn how to let go of control, trust the process, and—most importantly—trust myself.
Overcoming the Trust Block
I’ll be real: trust has always been a struggle for me. Even in my marriage—after nearly 19 years—I had to face the hard truth that loving someone deeply doesn’t automatically mean trusting them completely. That realization almost cost me my relationship.
But here’s what I’ve learned:
💡 Trust is a choice we make every day.
💡 It takes consistency, patience, and self-awareness.
💡 The right people will give you space to grow.
If you’ve ever battled trust issues, I see you. It’s not easy, but it’s possible to break those barriers.
Give Up Control & Trust
For years, I was a control freak. I micromanaged everything—my kids, my career, my emotions—because I felt like I had to. But I’ve come to realize:
💡 You can’t control everything.
💡 You can’t control other people and their emotions.
💡 Instead focus on what you can do: guide, support, and trust the journey.
Give up control and the journey could be transformational as it was for me. It’s allowed me to focus on being present rather than trying to predict or foresee illusive outcomes.
Worried about People’s Opinions?Overcome the Fear of Judgment
Does judgment trigger you? It used to trigger me and I’d feel my body tense up, my emotions flare. I was so worried about what people thought. But here’s the truth:
🔥 People will always have opinions—let them.
🔥 What matters is YOUR response/reaction to it.
🔥 When you trust yourself, judgment loses power.
I’ve spent years challenging the status quo. And guess what? Some people don’t like it. And that’s okay. The right people will always respect you for showing up as your authentic self.
Embracing Life’s Highs & Lows
This week has been an emotional rollercoaster—filled with joy and grief, celebrations and memories. Life is like that. One moment, you’re celebrating. The next, you’re remembering those you’ve lost.
💡 We need to give ourselves (and others) grace.
💡 Happiness and grief can exist at the same time.
💡 Cherish each moments and honor the past.
Trusting the process means understanding that life is full of highs and lows, and learning how to navigate both with love and presence.
Final Thoughts: Trust Transforms Everything
If there’s one thing I hope you take away from this episode, it’s this:
✨ Trust is the foundation of growth.
✨ Trusting yourself will change your life.
✨ The right people will stick with you, the wrong ones will fall away.
So ask yourself: Where do I need to build more trust? In myself? In my relationships? In the process?
